Playing Chords

At this stage, I am teaching myself to play the chords I need to play the song "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley.  According to Marty Music, the chords I need to learn are: G, E minor, C, and A minor.  Marty's version also has a "walkdown":  I learned that this is a transitional note between other notes or chords. I found this very difficult, and after several attempts, I decided to remove it from my final product.

In the video below, you will see the result of much practice - successfully playing all of the required chords for the song!

Putting it together - my last post!

This is my last post!  After hours of practice, I have produced my final product- playing Redemption Song by Bob Marley. In the end Here is my finalized goal tracker. Most items took a little longer to complete than I had initially estimated.  In the end, I was not able to play the full song smoothly, but I do plan to continue working on it after this course!  As an additional win, I had listed an optional "stretch" goal to learn to read guitar tab, and I am happy to say that I partially completed this goal. My completed goal tracker Another bi-product of this project is the huge amount of respect that I have gained for musicians:  they are able to play songs seamlessly transitioning between single notes and and chords, sometimes while singing or coordinating with other band members ... in front of a crowd of people - incredible! Thanks for reading my blog! All the best, Tiffany

Getting started - playing the opening notes

Greetings everyone! I have started learning my song, and have two short videos to post to show my progress toward my distal goal for my PME 800 project.  The first video shows me struggling with the first few notes and the second one (taken a few days later, and after much practice) has me getting all of the notes of the opening "riff" correct - yay me!   Initially, I struggled with switching up the finger placement on the frets and it took some time to get a good feel for how hard or soft to play the strings. Those reading this blog who play guitar are likely finding this funny because I did notice that it becomes habit fairly quickly -  maybe it's muscle memory?  I was also surprised by how much I had retained when I picked up the guitar the very next day. I am happy to say that I have been able to cross a few proximal goals off my list ... next one is playing the first two chords (see a screenshot of my goal tracking sheet below). I want to giv...
